About this image

Before there was a law written on stone, there was a morning — the seventh morning of creation — when God walked through His new world and called it very good. This serene oil painting captures that sacred stillness: a figure in earthly garments moving through an ancient sun-drenched forest, arms open to the light filtering down through towering trees, wildflowers lining the path to a glimmering stream beyond. The Sabbath did not begin at Sinai — it began in Eden, woven into the very rhythm of creation by the One who made time itself. This digital download prints beautifully as devotional wall art, a nature-themed Sabbath reminder, or a peaceful addition to any Christian home.

Bible background: The Sabbath

At the end of creation week God rested on the seventh day, blessed it and made it holy. At Sinai He placed the Sabbath at the heart of the Ten Commandments: “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy,” pointing back to Him as the Creator of heaven and earth.

Jesus kept the Sabbath “as his custom was,” healed on it and taught that “the sabbath was made for man.” Scripture calls it a sign between God and His people, a day of delight, and a rest the redeemed will still keep in the new earth.
