About this image

The five pillars of the Reformation are hand-lettered in blackletter on aged, scorched parchment: Sola Scriptura, Sola Fide, Sola Gratia, Solus Christus, and Soli Deo Gloria. A flickering candle, a quill, an inkwell, and a sealed Bible frame the scroll, pointing to Scripture alone, faith alone, grace alone, Christ alone, and glory to God alone as the foundation of the everlasting gospel. Adventist images for Reformation Sabbath, Bible study handouts, and evangelistic series, available as a high-resolution digital download for teaching slides and church media.

Bible background: The Three Angels' Messages

In Revelation 14, John sees three angels flying in the midst of heaven, each carrying a message for every nation, kindred, tongue and people just before Christ returns to reap the harvest of the earth. Seventh-day Adventists understand these messages as God's final call to the world.

The first angel carries the everlasting gospel and calls everyone to fear God, give Him glory and worship the Creator, because the hour of His judgment has come. The second announces that Babylon is fallen. The third warns against worshipping the beast and his image or receiving his mark, and describes God's people as those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.
