About this image
They are wearing white. They are walking in the light. And the city they have waited for their whole lives is finally, gloriously, real. This radiant oil painting portrays the redeemed of all nations streaming toward the New Jerusalem — faces lifted in wonder and tears of joy, children running ahead, the golden gates blazing open before them, the tree of life waiting on the banks of the river beside them. This is the Sabbath promise made complete — the weekly rest that pointed, through all the darkness of earth's history, toward this moment of eternal reunion with the God who never forgot them. A powerful large-format print for the Adventist home, church lobby, or Sabbath School classroom.
Bible background: The Sabbath
At the end of creation week God rested on the seventh day, blessed it and made it holy. At Sinai He placed the Sabbath at the heart of the Ten Commandments: “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy,” pointing back to Him as the Creator of heaven and earth.
Jesus kept the Sabbath “as his custom was,” healed on it and taught that “the sabbath was made for man.” Scripture calls it a sign between God and His people, a day of delight, and a rest the redeemed will still keep in the new earth.
